Once again, 1812 expert Rich Barbuto edited US Army chapters to create a delightful recap about expeditions in Canada during the War of 1812. Sometimes you can’t believe the rivalries within the US military that handicapped strategic efforts, but individual tactical commanders could sometimes save the situation.
You get nice recaps of the main battles: Chippewa, Lundy’s Lane, Siege of Fort Erie, Plattsburg, and Maine plus a nice selection of other skirmishes and small battles along the border.
The booklet contains one black and white photo, 23 color photos, 11 black and white illustrations, 20 color illustrations, two black and white maps, and eight color maps.
You’ll likely need other books to make a tabletop wargame proud, but this marvelous overview can ignite that spark of interest. Well done.
Enjoyed it.
