USMC Tank Markings in the Pacific: Casemate Illustrated

.

.

by Romain Cansiere.

Hardback (8.2×10.3 inches). 160 pages. 2025.

Most wargamers are not too worried about exact markings on their tanks, but I suppose that depends on the scale. A 28mm tank would look great with every marking. At 6mm? Not so much.

But modelers, well, that’s a different story, especially with 1/35 scale. I suspect most 1/35 kits nowadays come with a selection of decals, and perhaps less so at 1/72 scale — been a long while since I glued plastic together.

Yet, if you want a photo book of USMC tank markings, camouflage, and other standard and custom details, this Casemate Illustrated Special is exactly what you need. The six tank battalions receive a chapter each, followed by two independent tank companies, and three Defense platoons. Most of the book is photo captions, which often includes color interpretations of photos, but brief overviews of various Pacific War operations are included.

The book contains 215 black and white photos, 22 color photos, 60 color profile illustrations of tanks, one color map, 14 color TO&Es, five other color illustrations, and nine color profile illustrations of turrets.

Modelers will enjoy pouring through the pages to find just the set of markings they want for a USMC tank in WWII Pacific theater.

Enjoyed it.
