Fighters Over France: 1940

.

.

by Stratus Team.

Softcover (horizontal: 11.7×8.2 inches). 72 pages. 2025.

Aircraft modelers and wargamers who wish to add pizazz to their plane miniatures will enjoy this book of color camouflage profiles: mostly side but some overhead and underwing. Fighters from France, Germany, Britain, and Italy are included.

Each color camouflage profile is based on a specific pilot at a specific time during the WWII campaign in France.

The list includes: UK: Hurricanes and Gladiators (but oddly, no Spitfires or Defiants); France: MS-405/406, D520, H-75, CR-714, MB-152, FK 58, and PO-63/631; Germany: Bf-108, Bf-109, and Bf-110; and Italy: CR-42 and G-50.

The book contains 10 black and white photos, one black and white map, five color cockpit instrument panels, and 92 color aircraft profiles. It also contains 21 color ships with associated FS numbers to help modelers select the correct color shades.

One bit of errata: My review copy came with a full color page (p33) of a CR-714 where the original book page had the number 242 instead of 201 as referenced in the aircraft description. My guess is the cost of adding a separate page correcting the error was far less than reprinting the entire book. It’s a nice touch to correct a mistake like that.

Gorgeous illustrations make this book.

Enjoyed it.
