Hitler’s Heroes During the Advance to Stalingrad

.

.

by Jeremy Dixon.

Hardback (6.4×9.5 inches). 189 pages. 2025.

Subtitle: Knight’s Cross Generals on the Eastern Front 6 December 1941 – 2 February 1943

This is the second volume in a projected four-book series about generals who were awarded the Knight’s Cross, including oak leaves, swords, and diamonds attachments. This one covers 150 generals and follows the same format as the previous volume Hitler’s Heroes During Operation Barbarossa (see the review in the 12/19/2024 AAR or up on hmgs.org).

As with the first volume, each entry has a brief bio, a summary of why he was awarded the Knight’s Cross, additional citations for the attachments, other events during WWII, and usually a photo.

Also as with the first volume, there’s not much for the wargame table here. I suppose if you’re doing a battle that forms the basis of a citation, you can award the German player some sort of morale, combat, or other creative bonus.
