Subtitle: Self-Propelled Tank Destroyer German Army – Eastern Front 1943-1945
Everything that I said about the STUG III book (TankCraft 44) applies to the Nashorn book (TankCraft 45). In case you missed it, I noted how impressed I am with the TankCraft volumes. They generally follow the same format: Design, development, and deployment (p1-16 and p49-63), a wide variety of color camouflage profiles (p17-28), and model showcase (p29-48 and p64) that provide a cornucopia of color photos of plastic models in various stages of completion. It’s all a marvelous reference work for modelers and wargamers.
Less than 500 Nashorns (originally named Hornets) were manufactured by Germany during the war — most to the Eastern Front and some to the Italian front.
The book contains 43 black and white photos, six black and white visual OOB illustrations, two black and white maps, 24 color camouflage vehicle profiles, and 71 color photos (model section, including some box art).
Besides the usual suspects of plastic model manufacturers, I was particularly pleased to see Bolt Action models finally mentioned as one source for 28mm (1/56 scale) Nashorns.
Enjoyed it.
