Again, this volume comes from the chapters in the US Army book, but pumped full of marvelous illustrations.
It reads well enough and provides a good strategic analysis plus short recaps of notable movements and battles in 1812. The sheer level of incompetence among most of the senior US leadership led to a variety of US military disasters versus British, Canadian, and Native American enemy forces. The shortcomings of US logistics certainly hindered military operations.
The illustrations make these booklets. The book contains one black and white photo, 10 black and white illustrations, 19 color photos, 24 color illustrations, four black and white maps, and five color maps.
This volume in the series makes a good starting point for an overview of the good, bad, and ugly operations of 1812. Certainly the illustrations included reinforce the name of the series.
Enjoyed it.
