Subtitle: The Ultimate Pictorial Display of the Tornado in Its Element
This photography book will provide the modeler with hundreds of ideas on how to model the Panavia Tornado. The 363 color photos showcase different markings, wing positions, and top, profile, and underside imagery. Granted, most of the color schemes are gray, but every once in a while you’ll find a camouflage pattern with some pizazz. The shot (p169) of the aircraft with flames along its spine would be particularly challenging to duplicate on a plastic model.
The intro mostly consists of various personal reminiscences of photographing various versions of the aircraft as they made runs down in a valley. Some operational history is included, such as the first one deployed in 1984 and the last one retired in 2019.
Rathbone’s last Low-Level photo book covered the F-4 to the F-35. This one is just about the Tornado and well worth it for modelers and Tornado buffs.
Enjoyed it.
