Softcover (7.25×9.75 inches). 48 pages. 2026.
This overview of German and Soviet tanks used in the 1942-1943 battles during Fall Blau including US and British lend lease tanks as well. All the usual armored suspects are covered. A short recap of the German operation to capture the oil fields, as well as a comparison of doctrine and field deployments, add context to the nuts and bolts and treads of the specifications.
That said, and because so many Ospreys and other books cover the same range of tanks, how much you already know or how many books you already own will determine this booklet’s value to your personal library. Duplication is inevitable.
The booklet contains 49 black and white photos, one color photo, one color two-page action illustration, and 12 color camouflage armored vehicle illustrations (six German and six Soviet).
This offers a competent overview of the attack into the Caucasus and the color camouflage illustrations can certainly help in the painting process. It’s a fine entry-level overview.
Enjoyed it.
